Tell Us About You and Your Career
For most young children, when parents ask what they want for their birthday party, the answer is pizza, cake and a bounce house. When Drew Raber’s mom asked him what he wanted to do for his 5th birthday; he said he wanted to go to an Usher concert. Cookie explained to him that Usher might not be on tour and even if he was, he probably wouldn’t be anywhere close to Las Vegas Nevada. Drew answered with absolute certainty in his voice, “He’ll be here Mom. That’s what I want for my birthday. I want to see Usher” Cookie told Drew that if he wanted to see Usher then he couldn’t have a birthday party and still Drew insisted on going to the concert. She did her research and found out that Usher was indeed on tour AND he was performing at the Mandalay Bay within a month of Drew’s birthday. Not only did they get floor seats, but as a last minute surprise a white stretch limo took them to the concert and back home.
Fast forward eight years to Drew’s 13th birthday. Drew and a group of his friends are sitting around singing, while one of them plays the guitar. It’s a moment of quiet and then the guitar plays the opening chords to Justin Bieber’s Baby. A lone voice is singing, catching the attention of Tim Raber. Tim turns the corner onto the front porch and was surprised to see the voice coming from his own son. He interrupts them, brings them inside and records Drew singing acoustically. Goosebumps. It was at that moment it became crystal clear what Drew Raber was meant to do with his life.
Counting Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean and of course Usher as influences to his music and career; Drew describes his music has Hip Pop – Pop music with a Rap swag. It’s no surprise that the covers he has done include tunes by those same artists. The originals are produced by Tim “Money-T” Raber, with Drew writing most of the lyrics. In the past year, Drew has added Producer, Recording Engineer, Director and Film Editor to his skill set. As a freshman in high school, he is the youngest member of the Varsity Hip Hop Dance Team and the only freshman in the team’s history. Drew doesn’t want to be known as just a music artist; his goal is to be a household name worldwide. Outside of the music industry, Drew is a partner in the Ante Up Supply Company a clothing company he started with his dad Tim. In his limited spare time, he enjoys skateboarding and snowboarding.
