Biography
As a young man from Richmond California Romello AKA Mello Moncrease found himself not knowing which way he was going to go, hanging out with the thugs from the hood or chilling at the after school program playing pool or shooting hoops. This was something he battled with for a long time. He attributes making it out of the hood to his older brother, he's the one person in Romello's life that got him off the streets and gave him his confidence and his first microphone. In the late 1980’s Romello was just your average kid with only one thing on his mind, to make his first record.
He got a boom box with two blank tapes and started to record. The first time he heard himself on a recording he about cried. A short time after he got the opportunity he so desired to record in a full blown studio and then it began, he lived their writing and learning as much as he could but like all good things it had to come to a end. When the owner of the studio just up and left one day never to be seen again. For a long time after that Romello did nothing but sit and write songs with no where to record. In the mid to early 1990’s he found himself in the midst of stars and a place to call home with C.I.S.M Entertainment, where he became a part of a group that went by the name West 1's. The West 1's toured the great state of California. They were invited to a few sit- down meetings with several major labels. There were deals to be had, but do to bad management things always seem to fall through. Around 1998 he felt it time to move on and split all working ties with the group and go solo. Since then he's had his taste of fame pre-forming on bills with acts like Pm Dawn, B2k ,Daz and thats just to name a few. More recently Romello has been hard at work making the music his fans know and love.
Mr. Mello Moncrease is her to stay.
