Founded in 2013 by Kaylee Sidris, also known as Kay, Independent Chicks Ent was born from the drive to push family members to their fullest potential in the music world. However, the vision quickly expanded to create a platform that would support all independent artists who shared the same passion and ambition. What started as a small family-oriented venture has now become a powerful movement, led by two strong Black women determined to break down barriers in the music industry.

Social media marketing became the heart of their strategy, as they recognized its growing influence and its ability to connect independent artists with the world. From there, Independent Chicks Ent began building unique opportunities for artists. Whether it was through talent showcases, live podcasts, an online radio station, or festivals, the focus was always on creating platforms that gave artists the exposure and support they deserved. Though not every event was a success, each one helped the brand grow and evolve into a household name in independent artist circles.

Through trial and error, the team found their true strength in staying consistent with social media outreach, which allowed them to cultivate relationships with artists and fans alike. Their commitment to motivating and uplifting artists who often face isolation in the industry led to a number of well-earned recognitions. Among these, the 2019 Marketer of the Year nomination at the North Mississippi Music Awards stands out, as does Kay’s title of 2020 Industry Judge of the Year at the Hood Idol Awards.

But Independent Chicks Ent’s impact extends beyond just awards. The organization has played a key role in hosting a variety of mixtapes, including one for the legendary La'Chat, and in founding their online radio station, which reaches audiences as far as the United Kingdom. In 2022, they launched the Indie Music & Food Festival in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, bringing together music, culture, and food in a celebration of independent artistry.

In addition to these milestones, Independent Chicks Ent has also earned accolades such as the 2022 SSC Team Award and a nomination for the 2023 SEA Award. But what truly drives them is the desire to provide a voice for those often overlooked in the industry.

With a clear mission to ensure that independent artists stay motivated, inspired, and visible, Independent Chicks Ent has proven that determination, creativity, and a belief in the artist are the keys to success.
